Malam ini Selasa (22/11/2011) pesta olahraga negara-negara Asia Tenggara, SEAGAMES ke 26 resmi berakhir dengan ditutup secara resmi oleh Wapres. Budiono di Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya, Jakabaring, Palembang.

Secara resmi berakhir dengan ditandai penurunan bendera SEAGAMES dan padamnya obor seagames.

Pada pesta olah raga ke 26 diselenggarakan di dua tempat yakni Jakarta dan Palembang . Tuan rumah Indonesia tampil sebagai juara umum dengan rincian perolehan medali 182 emas, 151 perak, dan 143 perunggu.

Pada penyyelenggaraan kali ini Indonesia menjadijuara umum kembali, setelah menjadi juara umum SEA Games 1997 di Jakarta.

Upacara penutupan berlangsung cukup menarik, antara lain dengan pesta kembang api, tata cahaya, lampu laser dan berbagai atraksi dari para penari, dan ditampilkan pula tarian dari Myanmar sebagai pengenalan bahwa SEA Games berikutnya akan digelar di Naypyidaw, Myanmar, tahun 2013.

Sekali lagi selamat kepada Team Indonesia sebagai juara umum dan selamat kepada Myanmar sebagai tuan rumah penyelenggaraan SEAGAMES 27 . Sampai jumpa lagi.
